Poacher: A Gentle Soul and the Dog of Our Dreams

Some dogs walk into your life and quietly take up residence in your heart forever. For us, that dog is Poacher.
From the moment we met him, there was something different—something deeply tender and calm in his spirit. He didn’t need to demand attention or prove himself. He just was, and somehow, that was more than enough.
We’ve had the joy of loving dogs before—our beloved Manny being one of them. He was full of life, personality, and devotion, and we treasure every memory we made with him. But Poacher... Poacher has a sweetness that’s almost indescribable. It’s as if kindness lives in his bones. There’s no stubborn streak, no hard edges. Just a gentle heart that radiates warmth and love.
He is soft and silly in all the right ways. He leans into our hands for affection, matches our energy with such ease, and seems to know what we need before we say a word. Whether we’re heading outside for a quiet walk or settling in for a night on the couch, he’s always there—right beside us, completely content just being together.
We say this often, but it bears repeating: the stubborn gene must have skipped over him. Poacher is eager to please, easy to live with, and endlessly affectionate. He brings peace into our home, laughter into our days, and that deep sense of rightness that only a truly bonded dog can give.
We’re not sure how we got so lucky. Maybe it was good timing. Maybe it was meant to be. But either way, we are profoundly grateful to have been entrusted with him.
Thank you—truly—for placing your trust in us to be Poacher’s people. You didn’t just give us a dog… you gave us a companion, a comfort, and a beautiful soul who makes every day better just by being part of it.
With love,
Laura & Jack (California)
