A young dog’s first quail… a memory that lasts forever.

STRONG'S EKKI-EKKI-EKKI-EKKI-PTANG ZOOM-BOING!

Owner-Scott

Little victories build great gun dogs.

Monty got his very first wild quail in Nebraska this week a moment his owner, Scott, will never forget.

The best part? This was Monty’s very first trip home during his training development, perfectly timed for some true wild-bird experience. It couldn’t have been a better opportunity for this young dog to put all his training to work.

Scott shared how it unfolded:

Monty flushed the covey beautifully, sending the main group flying in one direction. Once Scott knew Monty was steady, he turned the opposite way and took a single bird, but Monty hadn’t seen fall. Scott gave Monty a gentle handle in the direction of the fall— no more than 20 yards along the cut-corn edge — Monty went straight to work.

From there, it only got better. He then flushed six pheasant hens out of another field, driving right into the wind with growing confidence. Today, Scott said he was already more animated, more purposeful, and starting to push that clean, direct line into the birds which we love to see.

These are the moments that make all the training worth it watching a young dog discover his instincts, trust his handler, and come alive on wild birds for the very first time.

What a special beginning for Monty and Scott.

And something tells us… this is only the start of many great stories to come. 🐾🤎

If you’re ready to give your young dog the same foundation and confidence that Monty is building, we’d love to help.
